Rescue list for Guppy on local host

1. My navigator parameters accept the cookies.
Important condition to access the admin area.

2. Did I inactivate my popup killer or my google bar or an other bar which kills popup ?some of the plugins won't work if those softwares are activated.

3. Did I inactivate my firewall or my anti-virus ?.
With easyphp or MiniGuppY, your website can't start if your firewall or your virus killer are on.

4. Did I parameter EasyPHP1.7 as recommended here .
Without those changes GuppY doesn't work with Easy PHP 1.7.

5. Did I refresh the page after the change ?.
It updates your Temporary Internet Files ( click right and select refresh use the F5 tab)

6. I've run an integrity control..
It repairs database problems (couics).

7. I've restarted my PC.
Many unexplaned computer problems disappear this way.

Is the problem still here ? YES / no.

Online Guppy Rescue kit

1. My Web host accept PHP.
PHP is the necessary language for GuppY.

2. I activated the php function at my host's chez mon hébergeur.
Some web hosts don't have PHP in standard hosting you may have to say you need it when opening the account or have to activate it in your webspace admin.

3. I make sure that my free hosting doesn't add wild addware popups in
my site.
Some of those advertising scripts are not good for Guppy sites because they add hidden codelines to your pages and act like
parasits in the native GuppY code. change of web host.

4. I checked that my host doesn't block some of the PHP functions.
Some web hosts block those functions for security reasons : mail(), direct upload, or include() function. If they do so, your Guppy will work but you may miss some of the nice functions like "tell a friend" , "Newsletter","files management " (you'll then have to use your FTP software to upload files from your computer to your website),"control mails", "RSS box"... Some other functions can be blocked, ask your web hosting services.

5. I've correctly chmoded ALL the files including the plugins files..
You only make if necessary, it depends of your web host. Thanks to report to this article and this too .

6. I've checked that there is no 0 Ko file ( zero ko file) on the FTP server.
FTP transfer can be corrupted. If you find files at zero ko it means that the transfer of these files wasn't correct, Just transfer them again.

7. My web Host is free ( this concern only French users) some strange things happen.
In this case 90% of the problems come from free. Just be patient .

8. My navigator parameters are made to accept cookies.
That is needed to access the admin area.

Frequent bad manipulations

1. I changed some PHPcode and errors occured.
Don't come and cry if it doesn't work ! all changes in the GuppY code are made under your own responsibility, They can create "couics" and/or security falls . Most of the time you don't need to change any code to obtain what you wish. You can adapt GuppY to many situations used in a lot of situations,just be curious, that's it.
Restore the unmodified files

2. I inserted quotation marks (") in one of the admin field.
Quotation marks are strictly forbidden in the admin fields. Reload the file data/config.inc from a new GuppY pack - You'll have to enter your parameters again.

3. I tried to insert some javascript in an article or an admin field
The direct javascript insert may block your GuppY as explained here. Reload the file data/config.inc from a new Guppy pack - All your parameters will be lost so you have to redo theme.

4. Since I installed a plugin, I get error messages.
You may have installed it wrong. Have a look at this article and at the readme files and documentation and start the installation all over again.
The plugin you installed may have come in conflict with another plugin. Un-install it and see if the problem still exists.
The plugin is may not be for the Guppy version you use. Just check at Guppyland GuppY Land or at the plugin developper's website.

5. There is a wide white space in my articles.
You inserted a table and passed some lines that were read. Download GuppYHTMLOptimizerin the downloadzone to compact your code.

6. I installed an htaccess to protect my admin and I don't have anymore access to anything /I have an error page/ I'm asked for a password, I write it but nothing happens / etc....
The htaccess we describe works for free and some
other web hosts but not for all of them. Ask your web host about it. The GuppY Team doesn't support htaccess.
